Jay Berrones is a Houston, Texas native chicano collage artist based in Portland, Oregon. Jay draws inspiration from his immediate surroundings. Having always had a peculiar way of questioning the world around him, paper collage serves to be an extension of this questioning by taking images out of their conventional place in the world and placing objects in surreal situations or scenarios to make new ones. Jay spent the better part of a decade pursuing a career as a chef. When that failed, he was better able to utilize his skills using sharp objects to cut upmaterials and reconstruct them in a way that appears more beautiful than what they were when originally conceived.
